Friends of Green Loop proposes that Phase III of the Culinary Corridor could stretch between Director Park and Block 216. This implementation is actually the first concept that was presented to City Council, but also the most complicated. It involves moving food carts into the right of way in the streets in a busy section of the downtown core. In order to accomplish this successfully, many issues will need to be addressed.
Some of the issues that become important in the right of way include:
- Food smoke, smells and emissions in proximity to buildings and businesses
- Electrical infrastructure
- Greywater disposal
- Waste management (dumpsters, recycling and composting)
- Vector Control
- Spill Management
- “Back of the house” storage and use
- Public restroom access
The previous phases would allow PBOT and Friends of Green Loop to experiment and evaluate practical, possible solutions.
